It was here that the Englishmen landed secretly on September 2, 1810 and expelled the Frenchmen.
Baie du Tamarin: It is situated at the mouth of Tamarin River, the beautiful landscape being the center of surfing in Mauritius. Mauritius Beaches like the Tamarin are spectacular, where enormous waves roll on the bay all through the year.
Grand Baie: This is the biggest tourist center in Mauritius with a variety of accommodations, water sports, shops and restaurants. One of the most versatile Beaches of Mauritius, this one offers discotheques and bars too. Tours and excursions are organized by various groups here.
Ile aux Cerfs: A small heavenly island at the east coast, this bay can be accessed by boats from Pointe Maurice in 30 minutes. You can see wild living deer in the island. Ile aux Cerfs is one of the most beautiful places in the Indian Ocean.
