In the culture of Mauritius there is unity in diversity. Here you would find the churches, mosques, temples and pagodas stay in common harmony. The people of Mauritius celebrate almost all the major festivals that are celebrated in most of the Asian and European countries. Another aspect of the culture of Mauritius is the language of Mauritius. When you are in a trip to Mauritius you can often hear Urdu, Tamil, Marathi and as well as Cantonese and Mandarin. The main medium of communication in Mauritius is however, Creole. This language emerged as a result of the interaction between the French settlers and the African slaves. This language however, never has a particular written format and English and French are the major languages of communication in this country.
The main music and dance form of Mauritius is Sega an important part of Mauritius’ culture. It is based on three instruments mainly the the ravanne, maravanne and the triangle. In this dance form the dancers wear colorful blouses and skirts with flower motifs. Bhojpuri music is also another form of music in Mauritius.
