Chapultepec Castle

Chapultepec Castle is one of the popular castles that remains flocked by the tourists. This castle was set on top of Chapultepec Hill that was located in the heart of Chapultepec Park in Mexico City at a altitude of 2,325 meters above the sea level. The building of this castle has been used for various purposes during its glorious history with Imperial and Presidential house, Military Academy, observatory and museum. It currently houses the Mexican National Museum of History. Chapultepec Castle is the only one castle set in the North America that was invaded by the European sovereigns.

Chapultepec Castle has now been utilized for various purposes for the last three hundred years. Harking back to early 20th century, Chapultepec Castle was the abode to Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg till the date of his execution. For sometimes, this castle was a barrack of an army and later the official residence of the President. The History Museum in this castle also holds an art museum also.

Chapultepec Castle was desolated during the Mexican War of Independence during the year 1810 to 1821 and several years later until the year1833. On 1833, the structure of this caste was ordained to become the place of the Colegio Militar and consequently quite a lot of structural changes had to be done with the addition of the watchtower, better recognized as Caballero Alto.

Chapultepec Castle had gone through various structural changes from the year1882 during the term of President Porfirio Díaz. Today, several new rooms have been incorporated on the second floor of Chapultepec Castle during the residence of President Miguel Miramón. He was an alumnus in the Military Academy.
