Rosemount Museum was first built in the year 1893 by the notable New York architect, Henry Hudson Holly. Planned by John A. Thatcher and closely monitored by his wife Margaret Thatcher, the Rosemount Museum is one of the major tourist attractions in Mexico.

Rosemount Museum was named after the favorite flower of Mrs. Thatcher and was dedicated to their two children, Lenore and Albert who had not survived to see the completion of this historic manor house. Spread over 24,000 square feet, the house is exemplary of Richardsonian Romanesque style and is built of the pink volcanic stone.
Rosemount Museum contains 37 well decorated and tastefully furnished rooms. Mrs. Thatcher took great pains in decorating the mansion. She carefully assimilated artistic furniture, 26 rugs of various styles like Persian, Turkish and Oriental hand woven rugs for the floor.
The main hall displays coffered ceiling and the largest Tiffany Chandeliers. The grand oak staircase adds to the grandeur of the place. It also leads us to the enormous stained glass window, "Kingdoms of Nature" that was designed the New York artist, Charles Booth. The whole mansion displays artistic woodwork of oak, maple and mahogany.
Featuring such artistic excellence, Rosemount Museum is rightfully titled the "Colorado's Crown Jewel". The mansion is today one of the most frequented museums in Mexico. The house remains open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 AM and 4 PM. It remains closed during the month of January and on all major Holidays.
