Tourist Attractions in Rabat are innumerable. From the 3rd century onwards the Rabat region has been the hub of tribes and settlers. The Chellahs were the first settlers and after that the Romans took possession and continued to live her until 250 A.D. Much later the Almohads also came to power and the Caliph of the Almohads chose Rabat as the capital city of Morocco. Most of the Tourist Attractions in Rabat are edifices and structures that were built by these dynasties.

Some of the well known Tourist Attractions in Rabat are:

Necropolis of Chellah- In the 13th and 14th centuries the Merinides honored Rabat by making it the site of the Chellah necropolis. It is a huge structure and home to the tombs of many of the Chellahs. It is one of the most important sites of attraction that you should visit on your Rabat tours.

Oudaias Kasbah - This was built in the 11th century. There is a colossal fortress that surrounds the Oudayas and it affords an excellent view of Salé and the ocean. The tourists can also visit the interiors of the Kasbah.

Oudaïas Museum - This is the opulent 17th century lodge that was built by Moulay Ismail. It served as his residence. The lodge boasts of Moroccan interiors and doubles up as a museum for rare artistic items like jewelry, garments and many more.

Archeological Museum - It was built in the year 1932. It is the National Museum of Morocco. There are separate sections one is the prehistoric section which displays remains of the Paleolithic period and the Neolithic age. Another section is the Islamic archeology section. A Pre-Roman and Roman section is also present in the museum.

Royal Palace - The Royal Palace in Rabat has a barricade wall and the entire structure came into existence in the year 1864. Inside the building there is a courtyard like space called the Mechouar. It houses the Ahl-Fas mosque where the King leads prayers on Fridays.
