Transportation in Rabat



Tourists have very little to complain about the conveyance facilities and the Transportation in Rabat. You can reach Rabat from every part of Morocco. The common modes of Transportation in Rabat are trains, buses, aeroplanes and cars.

In Morocco the most frequently used means of transportation is the Railways. Almost the whole of Morocco has a rail network. There is a 1907 km standard gauge and 1003 km of electrified trains with 3k V DC. There are train tracks leading to Tangier, Morocco and Spain through the Gibraltar Tunnel. Specifically speaking there are high-speed lines. There are high speed trains connecting the capital Rabat to Tangier and takes1 hour and 30 minutes and sometimes 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Trains are one of the easiest means of communication on your Rabat travel. Rabat is well served by other trains as well. From Marrakesh there is a train that takes approximately 4 hrs and the journey is indeed very pleasant. Fez is just two and half hours and Casablanca takes one hour from Rabat. There are two train stations in Rabat one at Rabat city centre and one at Agdal. Another important means of rail transportation in Rabat is the TGV. These services were started by the French company and there are duplex trains.

Among the other means of transportation in Rabat are buses and cars. The reason for the popularity of road transportation is the presence of innumerable national highways that connect Rabat to other parts of Morocco. The A1 runs for 223 kms and connects Rabat to Tanger. From Fez the distance of Rabat is 207 kms if tourists follow the A2 highway. A3 links Casablanca and Rabat and the highway extends to about 65kms. There are other highways too and that includes the Rabat to Kenitra highway (35kms).
