Geography of Nepal




The Geography of Nepal is very unique and comprises of plains, hills as well as mountains. This country resembles a trapezoid. It is eight hundred kilometers long and two hundred kilometers wide. The total area of this country is more than one lakh square kilometers. These bionomical belts run from east to west. This country has several major rivers flowing through it. The Nepal Geography depicts that the mountainous areas in this country has the highest region found anywhere in the globe. The Mount Everest which is known as the world's tallest mountain range is set on the boundary of this country and the country of China. This mountain has a height of more than twenty thousand feet. Among the 10 highest peaks in the world, this country has 8 of them. They include Makalu, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna. Due to deforestation serious ecological problems are on a rise here.

Nepal has no boundary with its neighboring country Bangladesh. Both these countries are disjointed by a thin strip of land of around twenty one kilometers wide.

This country has 5 climatic zones. This depends on the height of the place. You will come across 5 seasons in this country. It includes summer, winter, spring, monsoon and autumn. The Himalayan Range stops cold winds from entering the country. These winds blow in from the Central part of Asia during the winter season. Therefore the geographical location also affects the climate of the region. Even the culture of Nepal has been touched by the Geography of Nepal.
