The temple is also referred to as Durbar Square and was built during the monarchy of the Malaya kings. The temple has many smaller temples which have been found within its corridors.

Kumarighar: The Kumarighar temple is one of the best in the city and the meticulously crafted architecture of the temple has pleased many visitors. The image of the goddess has been kept in the balcony of the temple. The imperial setting of the building is reflected in the wooden window screens and balconies. The entire outlook of the temple has a regal touch to it.
