Patan Museum in Patan is located in the famous Royal Palace of all times, the Patan Durbar. This palace belonged to the kings of the Malla dynasty. The architectural setting of the palace is said to be one of the most striking. The exceptionally done window and glided doors make it one of the attractive squares.
Patan Museum building was originally constructed in the year 1734. The museum building had undergone damages and experienced several stages of restoration. The restoration work was done with the efforts of the Austrian Government and the Majesty’s Government of Nepal. The interiors of the building were changed to suit the need of the museum. Modern facilities were added in the museum premises making it more visitors friendly. After the completion of restoration work, it was thrown open to public in the year 1997.
