Museum voor Moderne Kunst, Arnhem or the Museum of Modern Art is a well known museum and is regarded as one of the important museums of Netherlands. Museum voor Moderne Kunst, Arnhem comprises mainly the art collection of the 20th century.
The collection of the museum was created when Alexander Verhuell gave his entire property of drawings, paintings and crafts to the museum. This was added to the historic objects which the museum already had. In the year 1966, a part of the collection was moved to the Historical Museum of Arnhem.
The Museum voor Moderne Kunst, Arnhem not only has precious paintings of all the renowned artists of the past and modern era but also has a sculpture garden with views of the Rhine. The paintings were drawn by renowned artists like Jan Mankes, Edgar Fernhout, Raoul Hynckes, Pyke Koch.
The building was built in the year 1873 by the architect Cornelis Outshoorn, a Dutch engineer and after some time the building was transferred to a new place. The museum contains works of crafts and paintings which reflect the ways of life of the common people as well as the rich people. The works depict the lifestyle of people from various strata of society ranging from fishermen and farmers to factory workers. Many costumes used by the ancient people, jewellery and furniture are also on display inside the museum. Besides these, textiles of different varieties and of different colors are also on display
The museum is usually open on weekdays. There is a certain amount of entry fee charged for entering the museum while there is a concession for the children.
