The Church of Our Lady, Maastricht is one of the most ancient churches in Netherlands. The Church of Our Lady, Maastricht was built in the 11th century and is open to the public except on some special occasions. The church has an open square which contains a beautiful garden. The square has chambers which contains the Roman ruins.

The tourists can walk to the place directly southwards from the main market or may avail of the bus services from the tourist office on Wolstraat to reach the Church of Our Lady, Maastricht. There is also a ferry service to reach the place. The Church of Our Lady, Maastricht has a tall tower which is quite impressive and once the tourists are inside the church, they get completely engrossed in its serene interiors.

The church contains a treasure chamber and a beautiful backyard where the tourists can enjoy and relax for a while. Photography is not encouraged as there are guards who keep telling the tourists not to take pictures inside the premises.

The church is built in the same place where St. Servatius founded a chapel in the year 380 A.D. In the year 900 A.D two small towers were built on the western part of the church. This part which was built over a millennium ago looked like a fortress. This part also consisted of a square and had a beautiful surrounding with trees of various kinds. The tourists can take a stroll around the gothic corridors and the inside courtyard.

The visitors have to pay a small entrance fee for entering the courtyard and the treasury chamber. At the western side of the church, there is a green square which is known as 'Onze Lieve Vrouwe plein' with lots of terraces.

The Church of Our Lady, Maastricht can be viewed from different angles including the new bridge across the river. The massive walls and the exteriors of the church give it a new dimension.

The Church of Our Lady, Maastricht is mainly open during Easter, daily from 11 am to 5 pm and is open to the public on all days except during services. A certain entry fee is also charged to enter the church premises. Many people from the Maastricht town come to this church to pray to God. During special occasions the tourists burn candles during prayer time and there is usually a long queue.
