Museum Spanish Government, Maastricht is situated in Vrijthof. The museum building is a 16th century Spanish Government house that was originally built as a chapter house. This building is one of the oldest houses of Maastricht that dates back to the 14th century.

The Renaissance arcade of the Museum Spanish Government in Maastricht courtyard has carved medallions with portraits of Emperor Charles V. The arcade also has portraits of Emperor Charles V's wife Isabella of Portugal and young Philips II.

While in the museum, two rooms feature decorations that represent the mid-18th century Regency style of Liège-Maastricht.
