The Grote Kerk or St Laurenskerk, Rotterdam, is the only remainder of the medieval Rotterdam. In the beginning it was the only late cathedral stone building in Rotterdam. A lot of important events took place in this church. In 1572, reformation took place, and the Protestant church of Laurens was built. In 1658, Witte de With was buried in the church and then also Kortenaer in 1665 and Jan van Brakel 1690.

During the bombing on May 14, 1940, Laurenskerk suffered severe losses. Initially there were voices to the church to scrap, but this was blocked by the German occupiers.

The church contains a variety of sights, including the bronze doors, which were designed by the famous Italian sculptor. The 65 meter high tower remains open on Saturdays from April to September between 12:30 pm and 14:00 pm to the public.

The church has 4 organs. The 4 organs are Kapelorgel, Koororgel, Tanseptorgel and Hoofdorgel. The hoofdorgel has 85 votes and 7600 pipes. It is the largest organ in Netherlands.
