This historic home houses a total of 17 timber rooms and was built in a Gothic style during 1862 and 1881. Alfred Buckland and his wife Eliza lived in this historic house along with their 21 children and servants. Highwic House remained in the family till 1978 when it was finally sold off. This home was later on converted into a museum and is furnished with a lot of antiques, which draw connoisseurs and art collectors from all over the world.

Highwic House in Auckland remains open for general public from Wednesday to Sunday from 10.30 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 16.30. It closes down for lunch in between. This house remains closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Christmas Day and Good Friday.
