Highwic House, Auckland is the former family home of a famous land owner and businessman called Alfred Buckland. This historic home houses a total of 17 timber rooms and was built in a Gothic style during 1862 and 1881. Highwic House, Auckland is surrounded by a beautiful garden and all its rooms are furnished in late Victorian style.

Each and every part of this house, be it the dairy or its drawing room, provides a sneak peak of the life of a wealthy colonial family and their servants at that time. This House was remodeled in the year 1873 in accordance to the design of 'The Architecture of Country Houses' as noted in American A.J Downing’s pattern book. This is one of the finest Gothic style timber houses in Auckland.

Alfred Buckland and his wife Eliza lived in this historic house along with their 21 children and servants. Highwic House remained in the family till 1978 when it was finally sold off. This home was later on converted into a museum and is furnished with a lot of antiques, which draw connoisseurs and art collectors from all over the world.

Opening Hours of Highwic House, Auckland

Highwic House in Auckland remains open for general public from Wednesday to Sunday from 10.30 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 16.30. It closes down for lunch in between. This house remains closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Christmas Day and Good Friday.
