Splash Palace, Invercargill is one of the premier and most famous aquatic facilities in New Zealand. With a unique and fantastic southern costal theme Splash Palace, Invercargill is a fun place to visit.
Splash Palace, Invercargill boasts of an indoor aquatic center of a mammoth size. It is located within walking distance of the central business district. It is also close to a large selection of motels and parks. The facility is also within 5 minutes drive from the airport and close to accommodation.
Officially opened in February 1997, the Southland Aquatic Center is a totally indoor facility. The main pool is 50 meters long and varies in depth from 1.1 meters to 3.8 meters. The aquatic center has access to a score board and electronic timing systems as well as two FINA regulation water polo goals. This makes it ideal for both swimming and water polo events and competitions.
Splash Palace also offers a range of other features. These include, diving springboards, swirl pool, leisure pool, steam room, meeting room, and even a pool-side cafe. The complex has permanent seating for 400 people. Apart from a permanent seating the center has a folding seating arrangement for a further 250 people. The aquatic center has a team approach to ensure safety and well-being of the visitors
Splash Palace has a children’s pool. Here infants can explore the joys of water play. There is a leisure pool where kids can have fun under the waterfalls and where the family can enjoy the active feeling of surf.
Activities such as aquarobics, aqua jogging, lap swimming, learn to swim classes, diving and using the waterslide are all available here. The pool has successfully hosted national swimming championships and other sports such as water polo, underwater hockey, synchronized swimming and canoe polo.
Like most pools in the country the Splash Palace operates from 6 am weekdays and 8 am on the weekends. It remains closed on Christmas day. Parking facility is available for cars and 2 wheelers.
Whether you want to slip down the waterslide, jump off the high board, lap swim, or just relax in the swirl pool - Splash Palace has it all. It is thus the right place for people of all ages.
