By undertaking Invercargill Travel, one can visit the city of Invercargill. It is located in the south of New Zealand. Invercargill Travel throws light on the facts, transportation and travel tips about the city.

In the 1850s, the place came to the notice of the Scottish settled in Dunedin. They began buying land for sheep runs in the far south. Today as the country's southernmost city, Invercargill is well-equipped and visited by many people. Good shops and a range of lively bars and restaurants can be found in and around the city.

Situated to the south of Dunedin the city has a population of around 50,000. The local beach, Oreti, is just a few kilometers from the town center. Bluff the closest settlement to the southern most point of the city, is just 19 kilometers away. Stewart Island which is only an hour's ferry ride from Bluff is a tourist's paradise.

The city gets a distinctive character of its own from the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco heritage buildings. The museum of the city and the rose gardens at Queens Park are major attractions. The art gallery at Anderson Park exhibits quality art. Local food specialties in the city include oysters and blue cod.

Inter city coach lines operate the largest network throughout the country and link the city with other parts of New Zealand. Within the city a public bus service runs six days a week. The services cover the inner city and outlying suburbs. Freebie Bus travels within the inner city free of charge on weekdays. The city has 2 taxi companies which provide excellent services. Invercargill has a range of restaurants and cafés to please all tastes. Some important parks in the city are Queens Park, Anderson Park, Otepuni Gardens and Southland Festival of Gardens

The city plies zero-fare bus services on many of its routes. Zero-fare bus services were introduced with the hope that in future all bus services in Invercargill would be free of charge. The Freebie is a zero-fare loop service in the inner city. The Purple Circle is a free bus circuit plying through student residential areas.
