The Kahurangi National Park, Nelson is one of the most frequently visited tourist attractions in Nelson as the tourists want to enjoy the beauty of the rich flora and fauna of the city. This park considered to be the boundary between the Tasman regions and the West Coast is administered by the Heaphy Track and Mount Owen. The national park offers a wide range of landscapes which attract the global travelers from different corners of the world. The natural arches, the alpine tussock downs, the sinkholes, the water-worn outcrops to the Nikau Forest on the West Coast.

The Kahurangi National Park in Nelson also includes the “The Heaphy Trach which is along as 82 kilometers attracts the travelers which have keen interest in exploring the countryside. The tour of the Tablelands Circuit or track lasts for about 2 days, the Wangapeka track lasts for about 3-5 days, Leslie/Karamea track lasts for 3-4 days. The shorter trip around the national park comprise the Mt. Arthur Hut (lasting for 1 hour and 15 minutes) and the Flora Hut (lasting for only 30 minutes). The wild animals for which you must watch out are smallest giant Weta, giant land snail, protected Blue Duck, largest cave spider and last but not the least the largest remaining population of the Great Spotted Kiwi. The Kahurangi National Park is well-know for fishing, rafting, birdwatching, tramping, caving (for experienced cavers), kayaking (for experienced kayakers) and photography.
