Palmerstone North is the juncture of the important roadways in New Zealand. The State Highways 56 and 57 meet The State Highway 3 close to the city and are merged in the main roads of the city. Tararaki, the historical sites of Maori, are all on the way, if you are following the road route.

There are city bus services running between Palmerston North and other cities. The main Depot is located at the junction of Main and Pitt Street. There are about five town buses and one campus bus. Buses run frequently from the town to Massey. On selected days, there are buses connecting Linton, Ashhurst and Fielding.
