The Katikati Bird Gardens is located towards the edge of the Walker Road East, off the Pacific Coast Highway in the Bay of Plenty region. The park is near the harbor. The Bird Gardens is situated at a 25 minutes drive from the downtown part of the city of Tauranga. The gardens cover an area of 10 acres. The park is beautifully landscaped by roses, lily ponds, conifers. It is home to various species of plants collected from all over the world. As you stroll along the park you will see peacocks, doves and pheasants wandering amidst the park by the lakes. The gardens include wetlands where you you will find colonies of shags and natives of Royal Spoonbills.
