Ingal is a beautiful town situated towards the north-eastern part of Niger. It is a part of the Agadez Department. The town is situated 70 miles away from the city of Agadez, towards the west. It is famous for its oasis and beautiful salt flats. Uranium mining is an important industry here. The town is sparsely populated.

Cure Salee is the most popular festival celebrated in Ingal. It is celebrated in the month of September after the rainy season. During the festival Wodaabe and the Tuareg pastoral people gather here in large numbers. At this time of the year the population of the town increases by manifold. The festival is held during the last two weeks in the month of September. The Government of Niger stated to sponsor the festival from 1990. The festival starts from 11th September( as fixed by the government) each year and continues for 3 days. A festival which used to be celebrated by the pastoral people of the country now draws tourists, dignitaries and world famous performers to Ingal. During this month the Sahara Desert turns a little green. You will find pools of water here and there.
Cure Salee Fesival in Ingal
During the Cure Salee festival the pastoral people gather here at Ingal near pools and salt flats to refresh their herds of cattle and goats and at the same time prepare for their journey towards the south of the country so as to survive the dry conditions. During the festival different ethnic groups of people meet and mingle, share news, trade agricultural produce or clothes or salt and have fun. The festival is the time for courtships and marriages among the Tuareg and Wodaabe men and women. Dances and tests are organized where the men display their skills as riders, musicians, dancers, craftsmen as to draw the attention of the women.
