The airport will undergo rapid expansion and up gradation in the years to come. On November 13, 2006, the Abuja Gateway Consortium signed an USD101.1 million contract for the maintenance and expansion of the airport over the next 25 years. The contract signed covers other important facets of up gradation of an airport like building of a hotel, a private car park, shopping malls and a bonded warehouse.
