Located at Kano Old City, the Gidan Makama Museum is opposite one of the other tourist attractions in Kano known as the Emir's Palace. The Museum is known for its traditional architectural style which is unique to the monument. Known for its wide ranging selection of historic and ethnographic collections on Kanawa Civilization and Hausa Land, the museum is regarded as one of the national heritage sites.

It was the former residential complex of for Prince Rumfa, the Emir's grandson. - Gallery Seven or The Economy: The displays here offer an insight into the consolidation of colonial rule in Kano. One can also get to know about the first railway line which was put in 1911.

- Gallery Nine or Industry: Textiles, basketry and leatherwork are few of the displayed products here.
- Gallery Ten or Music: You will get an insight into the musical heritage of the city. Various musical instruments made of fibres, wood and aluminum are put on display here.
