Munch Museum, Oslo

Situated in Toyen, the Munch Museum, Oslo is one of the most favored tourist attractions in Norway. Dedicated to the famous artist Edvard Munch, this museum houses several collections of his exquisite artworks. Apart from paintings and pictures, the Munch Museum, Oslo comprises of an array of sculptures, wooden blocks, artistic impressions and engravings, lithographic prints, books, and other paper records.

Tourists while taking a tour of the Munch Museum in Oslo will get to know the life and works of the famous Edvard Munch. Inaugurated in the year 1963, this museum forms an interesting place of visit. The museum features an area for exhibitions. It spans about 1,150 square meters. There is a hall where lectures are imparted. Certain small scale shows and exhibitions on a temporary basis are also conducted in this hall.

The Munch Museum, Oslo houses offices, store rooms and a library too. There is a separate department for technical aspects such as photography, renovation proceedings and works of casting. The shows differ from time to time, as some parts of the exhibition are not displayed at one go.

The Print Gallery in this museum has hosted the exclusive exhibition of "Edvard Munch 1895 - his first year as a graphic artist." It consists of about 150 works of the artist. During the seasons of autumn and summer in the year 1995 some of the prominent art works of Munch were exhibited in here. Another popular exhibition in Munch Museum, Oslo was the "Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen".
