Norwegian Folk Museum, Oslo

The Norwegian Folk Museum, Oslo provides a glimpse of art and culture of Norway. The museum provides a glimpse of the history of Norway, the daily life of the people and all the festivals of the Norwegian people. The museum showcases more than 155 houses and other objects from all the major regions. This open air museum displays the traditional farms of wooded barns, storehouses, dwellings and stables. One can also see the city houses in the Old Town. The focus of the Norwegian Folk Museum, Oslo is mainly on 17th to 19th century, but one can also see many medieval houses like the Stave Church from Gol, dating back to approximately 1200 AD.

In the summer season, there is a great rush of visitors to the museum with the hosts welcoming everyone in traditional costumes every day. There are a good displays of handicrafts and includes different activities like baking of "lefse" as well as horse-and buggy rides are present for the kids to have a fun time. There are folk dance on Sundays, concerts, visit to the animals take place. There are permanent displays of Norwegian Costumes, Sami Culture, Firs hall of Parliament , Folk Art and Toys are displayed.

There are regular bus services every 15minutes from "Jernbanetorget" on coming by Oslo train station and the National Theater. In summer season, there is regular ferry services from Radhuskaia to Dronninger, and from there a 10 minutes walk.
