The Viking Ships Museum, Oslo is situated at Bygdoy in Oslo. The museum is part of the Museum Of Cultural History under the University of Oslo. The Viking Ships Museum, Oslo houses the Viking Ships from Tune, Gokstad and the Osenberg. There are also displays from the mount cemetery at Borre.
Viking Ships Museum in Oslo - History
All the finds discovered from the Viking Age at the end of the 19th and beginning of 20th century was proposed to be houses in a separate building by the Swedish professor Gabriel Gustafson in 1913. At this time, the University of Oslo housed the Oseberg ships for many years. After the construction of a hall, the Oseberg ship was moved from the University shelters in 1926. The building was completed in 1932 and other parts of the building were constructed in 1957.

Visitors entering the museum can see the Oseberg Ship. On walking past the ship, one reaches the middle of the museum. At the center, one can see artefacts from the discovery made by Oseberg in from, the Gokstad Ship on the left and the Tune Ship can be seen on right. There is a balcony where visitors can get beautiful view of the top of Oseberg Ship and the Gokstad Ship. The mezzanine floor which is above the entrance has the thematic exhibitions.
