Flyhistorisk Museum Sola, Stavanger is the Norwegian Historical Aircraft Museum where tourists will find historical aircrafts and other aircraft parts on display. Most of the aircrafts that are exhibited here had a role to play in the World War II. The Flyhistorisk Museum Sola, Stavanger was founded in the year 1984. It is an undertaking of the local volunteers and is run on an unpaid basis.
This aircraft museum is currently situated in the old aircraft hangar which was also the site of the former military seaplane base, which was built by the Germans during the World War II. The Flyhistorisk Museum Sola, Stavanger exhibits 35 historical aircrafts, engines and other equipments. Pictures and various documents relating to the Second World War have also been put up for display in the museum.
There is a workshop in the museum too. Here the Messerschmitt Bf-109, an Arado Ar 96, a Caproni Ca.310 bomber, and parts of a PBY Catalina are currently under restoration. The visitors will get to see many aircrafts that belong to the Norwegian airlines like Fjellfly and Braathens S.A.F.E. The museum also throws sufficient light on the military history of Stavanger. The Royal Norwegian Air-force's aircraft, the German Luftwaffe, jet fighters used by the RNoAF are all displayed in the Flyhistorisk Museum Sola in Stavanger.

There are many Former Royal Norwegian Airforce aircrafts too that you will find in the museum. The Flyhistorisk Museum Sola, Stavanger contains the North American F-86F, and F-86K, the De Havilland DH-100 Vampire (in Swiss colors), Lockheed T-33A and Northrop F-5A.
