Mohatta Palace Museum was originally constructed to be used as the residence of Fatima Jinnah, the sister of Mohamed Ali Jinnah, the founder and the first president of independent Pakistan. It was constructed between the years 1933 and 1935. The place owes its name to its founder, Shivratan, Chandratan, Mohatta. At present the palace is used as the museum and displays artifacts of ceramic art collected over centuries.
