Madang is an hour flight from Port Moresby. It is serviced by Air Niugini with daily connections. Though Madang has no bus or taxi services from the airport most hotels provide free airport transfers. So getting into the city is relatively easy

The key road is the Highlands Highway, which runs from Lae to the highland towns of Goroka and Mount Hagen. Madang is connected to the highway via Ramu Highway at Watarais. There are also good roads on New Britain and New Ireland area of Madang, which were built by the German settlers.

Coastal shipping companies, Rabaul Shipping and Lutheran Shipping provide transport service to Madang. They also give ferry services to Lae, Popondetta and Alotau ports. Services to some of these ports are irregular. Therefore it is advised that passengers are should confirm with respective shipping companies or agents about the routine schedules.
