Plaza de Armas is one of the popular tourist attractions in Peru. It is basically the main square in the Latin American cities. Plaza de Armas is one of the significant landmarks in Peru and has many historical monuments.

Plaza de Armas in Peru is situated in Pisco which is a city in the Ica region of Peru. This city has a rich historical background and is the cradle of one of the ancient civilizations in Peru. The Plaza de Armas is a favorite hang out for the locals and foreign travelers.

The Plaza de Armas has quite a number of historical monuments which include the statute of Jose de San Martin, the mansion where he used to live, the Municipal Palace and the Boroque Iglesia de la Compania.

The Plaza de Armas is a historical landmark in Pisco and has many of the 18th century architectural splendors. Here you can find the Cathedral, the baroque Iglesia de la Compania and the post office which was once the official residence of the governor. The city of Pisco was founded in 1541 and Plaza de Armas became the administrative and commercial base. At present it is a historical site and a cultural center. In the evening a lot of people visit this place to see the performances of the local artists.

You can begin your Pisco tour by starting from the Plaza de Armas. Here you will find quite a number of historical monuments which include La Cathedral which is a church built according to neoclassical style. The portico of the cathedral stretches over a long area. You will be mesmerized by the beauty of the place at sunset when the front of the cathedral is stained orange by the setting sun. Although the construction of this cathedral began in the year1544 but it sustained partial damage due to earthquake in the 17th century. In 1844 it was completely burnt in fire. Later this church was again rebuilt in its present form.

If you explore the main square you will also find the La Compania which is positioned just on the opposite corner of the Plaza. This church was built by the Jesuits in the year1573 and is known for its mestizo façade and the Chapel of San Ignacio de Loyola.
