Ventanillas de Otuzco is one of the significant tourist attractions in Cajamarca which draw a lot of international travelers worldwide every year. The dead bodies were buried in a special way. Initially the bodies were laid on the ground. After some time the skull and the bones were put in the niches along with the belongings that were buried with the dead. The archeologists inferred that this process was carried on for the important leaders and their family. It is also said that some of the windows were used more than once even after Cajamarca was conquered by the Incas and later during the Spanish dominion.
This archeological centre in Cajamarca portrays the Caxamarca culture which is located in the north eastern side of Cajamarca. This construction is built according to megalithic style and was sculpted in the rock. Among the various megalithic constructions you will find the Cumbe Mayo which is one of the biggest megalithic constructions. Here you will see the maximum usage of hydraulic engineering.
