Among the various tourist attractions in and around Arequipa, a visit to The Convent of Santa Catherine of Siena is a must for tourists. Lucia Isabel Rivera de Padilla founded The Convent of Santa Catherine of Siena in Qosqo City in the year 1601. This famous church was destroyed by the Waynaputina Volcano. Eventually, Lucia Isabel built the ancient church after a long time.
The recent structure of Saint Catherine of Siena was built after 4 long years. The altarpieces of The Convent of Santa Catherine of Siena church and monastery were carved out by various local craftsmen in the second half of the 17th century. You can also see several pictorial works of Cusquenian School made by artists who hadmarked individuality.

There is a collection made by Juan Espinoza de los Monteros representing Saint Catherine of Siena's life and the Remedies Virgin in the Monastery Foundation. Lorenzo Sanchez Mefecit was another Cusquenian painter who created the huge canvas of the Virgin's Assumption. He also made the Saint Catherine of Siena's Glorification.
Another astonishing feature of The Convent of Santa Catherine of Siena is the golden cedar wood Major Altar with great styles. Here, there is the statue of the "The Holy Heart of Jesus Christ" and lower Saint Catherine and Saint Dominic Guzman. There are four other golden altarpieces over here.
If you visit The Convent of Santa Catherine of Siena now, you will see a beautiful museum of colonial art. Inside the museum are different canvases representing the "Lord of Earthquakes". Certain paintings are also to be found.
If you go further, you can see the paintings that represent the life and miracles of Saint Rose of Lima. The lower choir shows diverse canvases representing Saint Dominic Guzman's life. This was painted by Juan Espinoza de los Monteros.
The Scriptures room of The Convent of Santa Catherine of Siena is very interesting. It contains murals that represent the religious and virtuous life on the upper side. These are also paintings done by Tadeo Escalante. The upper choir preserves paintings that represent the life of Saint Catherine.
