La Casa Risco has now been conserved in its full magnificence by local institutions and it now houses the Museum of Archaeology. This elegant colonial house of Trujillo was built in the early 18th century. Trujillo, a city in northwestern Peru, is located on the lower Moche River, near its mouth on the Pacific Ocean.
Trujillo holds the prestigious title of being the capital of the La Libertad Region and it is the third-most populous city in Peru after Arequipa and Lima. The museum remains open from 9.30 am to 2 pm on Mondays, 9.15 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays, 3.30 pm to 7 pm on Saturdays and 9.30 am to 4 pm on Sundays.
La Casa Risco is a magnificent example of the 17th century architectural patterns. Among the other features, iron balconies make for a prominent character of this type of buildings.
