One of the most popular Tourist Destinations in Portugal is Lisbon, the capital and the largest city of Portugal. Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of history, art and culture. The Alfama is one of the oldest quarters in the wonderful and charming city of Lisbon.

The building has successfully survived the earthquake of 1755 and since then Alfama has retained much of its original layout. The city of Lisbon has a rich architecture, along with Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline, Baroque, and traditional Portuguese, modern and post-modern constructions. The city is includes many great boulevards and monuments, most notable among them are the Avenida da Liberdade or the Liberty Avenue, Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo, Avenida Almirante Reis and Avenida da Republica or the Republic Avenue.

For the visitors, Lisbon has in store some famous museums like, the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga or the National Museum of Ancient Art, the Museu do Azulejo or Museum of Portuguese-style Tile Mosaics and the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian or Calouste Gulbenkian Museu. All these museums feature a rich collection of ancient and modern art and paintings.

Lisbon’s opera house, the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos, hosts a relatively active cultural programs, during the time of autumn and winter.

The Lisbon Airport has both domestic and international flights that bring tourists regularly to this city. There is an extensive network of railway lines, bus services and cruises that will bring you to Lisbon from other parts of the world.
