Namibia national team Rugby is under the control of Namibia Rugby Union. Namibia team is also known as the Welwitschias. Namibia team was first played in 1999 Rugby World Cup.
According to the International Rugby Union rule it is the three tier nation in the rugby union. The team is playing international matches from early 1990s. Along with participating in the World Cup Namibia team takes part in the Africa Cup every year. Before independence Namibian players were the representative of South Africa.
In the month of March in 1990 Namibia Rugby Union was established and became the part of the International Rugby Board. In the 1987 and 1991 Rugby World Namibia did not appear. During 1995 World Cup they were not qualified. But they were qualified for the 1999 and 2003 matches. They are also the qualifying team of the Rugby World Cup of 2007.
The Namibia team is guided by the coach Johannes Venter. The Namibian team has a colorful dress. They have jersey with the combination of blue, red, yellow and white; blue shorts and black socks. The name of the captain of the Namibia team is Kees Lensing. This team is playing along with France, Ireland, Georgia and Argentina in the pool D teams.
