There are 4 major Airports in Moscow. They are Sheremetyevo International Airport, Domodevovo International Airport, Vnukovo Interenational airport and the Bykovo airport.

Sheremetyevo International Airport is the major international Airports in Moscow, handling a lot of flights and passengers. In the year 2006, the airport has handled 12.76 passengers and 110, 867 tones of cargo. Inaugurated in the year 1959, the first international flight, which commenced from this airport to Berlin, was on 1 June in the year 1960. The second terminal, which is at present the larger of the two terminals, was, opened in the year 1980 on 1st January on the occasion of Moscow Olympics. Although the airports are separate ones still they use the same runways. Different airlines, which run in Russia, are Air France, Alitalia, Austrian airlines, British airways, Delta, Finnair, Japan airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Malev, SAS and Swiss airlines.

Domodevovo International Airport is one of the major Airports in Moscow and is placed at distance of 35 km from the heart of the city. It ranks among the largest airports in Russia and has handled 15.37 passengers and 126,300 tones of cargo in the year 2006.

Placed at distance of 28 km southwest from the Moscow city center, the oldest airport in Russia has handled 5.12 million passengers in the year 2006. It was inaugurated in the year 1941 and has served the country in Great Patriotic war. The airport has two runways having lengths of 3000m and 3060 meters, which intersect each other. The airport can handle a maximum of 3000 passengers and there are 4000 persons who are employees of the airport.

Bykovo Airport is one of the major airports in Moscow, which handles only the domestic flights. The airport lies at distance of 70 km southeast of the city and the runway is 2210 meters in length.
