Sightseeing in Perm


The travelers coming from different corners of the world always prefer to go for sightseeing in Perm as it gives them a fair idea about the rich cultural heritage of the country. Since the history of the city dates back to the 1723 when the city was founded by Vasily Tatishchev. He was sent by Peter I to explore the vast treasures of ores which can be found in the region. You will come across the Museum of Arts is located at the crossing of the Ordzhonikidze Street and the Komsomolsky Prospekt. This museum is considered to be one of the largest in the whole of Russia. The open-air museum is situated at the Square of 1905 which is towards the north of the center . This museum houses some of the exclusive warfare items which have been made in the Motovilika factories itself.

The sightseeing in Perm also include a visit to the 18th century Perm-I railways Station as it is quite old and is worth a visit. While in Perm do not miss the opportunity of visiting the famous Opera and Ballet Theatre 'Chaikovsky'. The Kama boulevard is where you can visit during the summer monhs as it becomes lively with live music and dozens of party tents put up here and there. If you are looking for th regional sites the Perm-36 in Chosovoi and the Ice Caves in Kungur deserves special mention,a s they are only remaining camp of the Gulag archipelago and have been transformed into a museum.

While in Perm, you simply cannot miss the Tsar Cannon which has featured in the annual Guinness Book of World Records. You can see it in the yard of the Museum of Lenin Works standing since the year 1868 at the Motovilikhinsky Cooper Works. The barrel of the cannon weighs about 2,800 poods and the weight of in cannon-ball is around 30 poods with a calibre of 20 inches. During the first and last test around 300 shots were fired but very successfully.
