The Trinity Church, Vladimir is situated on the Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street in front of the Golden Gates. The Trinity Church is one of the most magnificent, graceful and youngest Vladimir churches built only in the beginning of the XX century or during the years 1913 to 1916. The Trinity Church, Vladimir is visited by large numbers of travelers every year.
The Trinity Church was built by the local Old Believers and it is sometimes called the “Red Church”, as it is made of red brick. Now the Trinity Church is turned into a museum. The high and bright interiors proved to be ideally suited to keep collections of craft items from the Vladimir region. There are crystal glass from Gus-Khrustalnyi, needle work and painted lacquer boxes from Mstiora inside the Trinity Church.
Today, the Trinity Church is widely known not as a church but as the “Museum of Crystal, Lacquered Miniatures and Embroidery”. It is one of the latest churches in the ancient capital city of Vladimir in Russia. The church was built of local brick by the famous architect S.M.Zharov.
The Trinity Church was sanctified on the 30th of October, 1916. The church was designed in the Byzantinesque style and the building consists of 2 volumes connected with one another: a church and a bell tower. Trinity Church, Vladimir includes a high silhouette with a stepped upper part and a helmet-shaped dome on the western part. The bell tower is however a little bit lower.
The outside of The Trinity Church, Vladimir is dark colored, while the interiors are lightly colored to give a contrasting feel to the whole church. The last service took place in the church in the year 1928 and the local archival office was placed here. Later on, the building was used for different purposes, until the exhibition of the Vladimir-Suzdal museum that was organized in the Trinity Church 1976.
