The Ural Geological Museum was founded in the year 1937. The inauguration of the museum in the year 1937 was marked by hosting of an exhibition for the seventeenth session of International Geological Congress. The museum houses 4 halls namely the hall of Ekaterinburg lapidary factory, Uralian Jasper hall, Malachite hall and the hall of Russian jewelery.
