The Ural Geological Museum was founded in the year 1937. The inauguration of the museum in the year 1937 was marked by hosting of an exhibition for the seventeenth session of International Geological Congress. It displayed the mineral treasures found in the Urals. However the museum was shifted to the Ural Geological Institute in 1938. The museum houses 4 halls namely the hall of Ekaterinburg lapidary factory, Uralian Jasper hall, Malachite hall and the hall of Russian jewelery.
