The airport is a domestic airport and operates flights to and from Maota and Faleolo.
The Maota Airport in Savai'i Island is the main domestic airport serving Savai'i Island, up to Upola Island, and Asau in the Northern end of Savai'i. The airport is situated a 10 minutes drive away from the capital island of Salelologa. The airport started operation from the beginning of 90s. Presently, the airport is a renovated and can serve small passenger aircrafts. There is no landing and take off of planes from this airport at night as poor lighting does not permit it. The airport also serves the Polynesian Airlines that operates from Faleolo, Asau and Pago Pago.
