In most Mbalax bands more than half the musicians are percussionists. The common beat of music is the interplay between the sabar which is a bass drum of goat hide stretched across carved mahogany and the more conspicuous tama which is a tiny hour-glass shaped drum placed under armpit of the player to change its pitch.
The bars of the city make the night life in the city all the more vibrating and pulsating. The bars are lively and filled with fine live music, fine food and ambiance, which are good enough to keep one dancing till the early hours. Ozio- This is arguably the best place to party in Dakar. Cool music and nice people come to this place. It is not particularly expensive.
Tamango Bar - The bar provides good live Jazz but serves expensive drinks.
