Sainte Anne, Seychelles is the largest island in the Marine National Park off Mahe. It is dominated by a large mountain which rises to a height of about 800 feet. The mountain is surrounded by thick tropical vegetation. The first settlers of the Seychelles lived in Sainte Anne, Seychelles.
The Island gets its name from the date of its discovery. It was discovered on Saint Anne's Day. During the Second World War the island had been used as a place of refuge for escaped prisoners and as a whaling base. Until 1992, the place was used to house the National Youth Service. Here young people aged between 15 to 17 would spend some time living on the island as part of their state education. It has since been developed into a five star hotel, which controls access to the island.

Sainte Anne is now one of the most important nesting sites for Hawksbill turtles. The calm, clear waters are perfect for snorkeling. Local guides are available to provide fascinating insight into the natural history of the reefs, to the visitors.
