Diving in Florida Islands: WWII Wrecks USS Aaron Ward, Florida Islands
The wrecks of the ship USS Aaron Ward is situated at a depth of 70 meters below the surface of the sea. It sits in an erect position at the sandy bottom of the sea, off Tinete Point close to Tulagi. The wrecks of the ship were discovered during the year 1995. It was destroyed on 7 th April during 1943 by a Japanese aircraft near the Tinete Point. It had 27 crew members aboard when it sank down. The wrecks comprise torpedo tubes and 5 inch guns.
The Twin Tunnels consist of ancient lava tubes that originate at the top of a patch reef and fall straight down to a depth of 35 meters. Then the tunnels join and form one horizontal tunnel that makes an exit through the reef wall , 40 meters below the surface of the sea. As the divers come out through the exit on the end of the horizontal tunnel they will get to see fishes, sharks, Giant Trevally, dogtooth and Barracuda. The divers have to dive to a height ranging from 18 meters to 40 meters to reach the Twin Tunnels.
