Culture of South Africa

Culture of South Africa is diverse as the topography of the country. History of South Africa tells about the range of diversity that contains from actual Afrikaner to the Europeans and Asians. This inter-mingling of different races has resulted in new cultural aspects and traditions in South Africa. Culture of South Africa involves the daily ways of life of all the community of people.

Marriage customs are an important part of the South African culture. The different groups living in the countryside have different ritual of marriage. They still have faith in the masculine deity, supernatural forces and ancestral spirits. Polygamy is still a part of their culture.

Cattle are an important aspect of the country's culture. Cattle are the mark of wealth and large cattle signifies more wealth and prestige in society. The belief of sacrificing animals are also very much part of the culture.

The indigenous populations in the country have fine treasure of arts and crafts. The country has rich source of fine arts. Another example of the craft of the country is the beadwork by the Zulus tribes. The elaborate work is a traditional art form, which endures in different form sin the present times.

Zulus are also known for great performing arts. The Zulu songs are a typical feature of the country's culture and have survived with the time. One can witness this art at the Inkatha Freedom Party.

In the urban part of the country, the influence of British people and other communities are faded the cultural and developed a new and interesting culture. One can experience in new culture in the urban parts of the country, which is in a way of reinventing.
