Campanille, Port Elizabeth is one of the major Port Elizabeth Tourist Attractions. Campanille, Port Elizabeth was built to celebrate the landing of the 1820 Settlers. It is a must visit site while you are on your Port Elizabeth Tours. Port Elizabeth is a city in South Africa tucked away in the Eastern Cape Province. Port Elizabeth was established as a town in 1820 to house British settlers. The purpose was to strengthen the border region between the Cape Colony and the warlike Xhosa tribe. It now forms part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. The city is in a friendship partnership with the Swedish City of Gothenburg and is a sister city to the American cities of Jacksonville, Florida and Palm Desert, California.

Port Elizabeth is set at the end of the beautiful Garden Route along the Cape and it has evolved into one of major destinations for tourists in South Africa. The several fine beaches in and near the city draw huge number of tourists every year. Campanille, Port Elizabeth is one of them. It is situated at the entrance to the railway station and on the Strand Street. Situated at the entrance to the harbor, Campanille in Port Elizabeth is a rising tower soaring to a height of 52 meters or 170 feet. Another distinctive feature is that it has a carillon of 23 bells.Campanille, Port Elizabeth was built in 1923.

Campanille, Port Elizabeth has a viewing platform at the top. Visitors can reach here by climbing 200 steps. It gives a brilliant aerial view of the city and especially, of the spectacular Algoa Bay. Campanille, Port Elizabeth remains open to public on Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9:00 hours to 12:30 hours and again from 13:30 hours to17:00 hours. It is also open on Sundays and Mondays from 14:00 hours to 17:00 hours. Visiting this site must be included in your Port Elizabeth Travel.
