Geography of Busan

Busan is the second largest metropolis after Seoul in South Korea. This city is also known as the summer capital of South Korea and is again the largest port city in the Republic of Korea. The city is home to more than 3 million people and the densely populated areas are along the narrow valleys between the Nakdong River and Suyeong River. In 1957 Busan was divided into six administrative sections namely Busanjin-gu, Dong-gu, Dongnae-gu, Jung-gu, Seo-gu, and Yeongdo-gu. At present there are 15 districts or “gu” and one county or “gun”.

Climate of Busan

Busan enjoys an oceanic climate as it is located on the temperate zone. The city's average temperature is 15 degrees Celsius. The best time to visit Busan is autumn, that is, from September to November. This is because during this time the weather remains pleasant and tourists can have a glimpse of the golden mountains and red autumnal leaves.

Transportation of Busan

The transportation system of Busan excellent. Tourists can avail all means of communication such as bus, ferries, flights and trains. Busan has two primary bus terminals, Nopodong Bus Terminal and Seobu Bus Terminal. Tourists can avail the express buses that link Busan to other major cities of South Korea.

Being the chief port Busan also has a well-developed ferry service. If you want to go to Japan then you must take the ferries from Busan Harbor Pier 1.

Tourists can also avail trains to reach other major cities of South Korea. The most important rail line is the Gyeongbu Line which connects Busan to other major cities such as Seoul, Daejeon, and Daegu. The other notable rail line is the Donghae Nambu Line. There is also a subway network in Busan.

Tourists wishing to fly in Busan can avail the flights from any major country or from Seoul and reach Gimhae International Airport.
