The Mt.Namsan, Daegu lies to the southern part of the Gyeongju City. Mt.Namsan, Daegu is at a height of about 494 meters above sea level. The mountain rates among the best tourist attractions in Daegu and is a must visit spot of sightseeing in the region. The rock cliffs and valleys located in the mountain gifts the mountain with remarkable beauty. There are various temples, pagodas, stone Buddha images situated in this mountain.
The eastern side of the mountain is rough and short compared to its western counterpart, which is favourably smooth and long, making it accessable to large number of tourists. This part of the mountain is also called the Seonamsan.
There are many picturesque valleys located in the mountain. They are Poseok Valley, Samneung valley and many more. They are mostly located in the Western Namsan. The tourists are most likely to find the best things to do in Daegu in this mountainous trail.
Many tourists attractions like the Najeong (the birth place of Hyeok-geo-se, who was the founder of the Silla Dynasty in 57 BC, it is a park), Poseokjeong Pavallion (the royal banquet place), Bae-ri-Triad, the various stone Buddhas, and other historical sites are scattered in this mountainous region. There are actually no strategic view points in entire Seoul other than the eastern,western, southern and northern tip of Mt. Namsan.
One can reach the top of the Namsan Mountain by taking a cable car. There is a park at the bottom of the mountain. The park boasts of the Seoul Tower, which is built on a 262 meters peak in Namsan Mountain. It will give you the view of the entire city. There are also many exhibit halls displaying the local birds, pictures of old Seoul and many more. The Global Village Folk Museum is also located here. There is also the World Musical Animal Land located here. Apart from these there are various shops, and restaurants scattered in the area.
Fourteen stone Buddhas of various kinds stand here, starting from the bottom entrance of Borisa Temple in the East Namsan, which is a masterpiece creation of Korea.
The tract that should be followed to cross the mountain is the one which connects the Samneunggol Valley, Yongjanggol Valley and Chilbulam Valley. This is rather a shortcut to the various cultural heritage points abundant along the mountain trail.
