Daecheonghosu Lake, Daejeon




The Daecheonghosu Lake, Daejeon is the third largest lake in Korea and is a major tourist attraction. The lake supplies water to the Daeheon and the Cheongju area. The lake has numerous mountains and trees around it. It is one of the major Sightseeing in Daejeon.

The roads running along the lake is excellent and is popular as a picturesque drive route. The reflection of the trees and mountains create a great scene. The clean grass around the lake creates a beautiful sight worth seeing. The park has an observation platform for viewing Daecheonghosu Lake. It provides a panoramic view of the surrounding area. There is also a public information hall where one can see the 3 dimensional model of the dam and also some other sights worth seeing.

The Public Information Hall has four rooms, which are Meeting with Water, Valuable Water, Site for Life and Water for Life. These rooms inform about water to two million visitors who come here every year. The underlying idea is that people should not waste water as it can not be replenished with money. The Hall supervises the spread of education.

The Public Information Center provides a beautiful view of the surrounding areas from the summit. Inside the center, there are details about the development, construction and operation of the dam. One can also know in detail about the water recourses here.

There are also some other tourist attraction that can be visited here. The Gyeongbokgung Palace is a must-visit tourist attraction. It was built in 1395, which was the fourth year of King Taejop rule. The Palace was constructed as a tribute to the permanent happiness and prosperity of the kings and their families of Korea. The Palace was raged down during the invasion by the Japanese in 1592, and was rebuilt in 1865, at the time of Prince Regent Daewongun.

One can also see the shrine of Kim Jeong (1486-1521), a popular scholar during the Hoseon Dynasty. A the foundation of the shrine was weak, it was moved in the present location, where it was built again. A monument exists beside the shrine which is dedicated to Eun Jin Song, the wife of Kim Jeong.
