Pungnammun Gate, Jeonju is one of the most visited Tourist Attractions in Jeonju. The city of Jeonju is in the country of South Korea. It is the capital of Jeollabuk-do (North Jeolla) Province. From the city of Seoul, it takes about two and a half hours to reach here. Jeonju is popular for its sports activities, historic buildings, innovative festivals and Korean food. For Traveling to Jeonju you can take the KTX train to Iksan and from there you can take a taxi or bus to reach the desired destination. The whole journey takes 2 hours from Seoul. Express buses take 3 hours and 20 minutes. If you are coming by air, you can take a limousine bus from the airport to the city hall.

The city of Jeonju has been a center of education, administration and culture of Jeollabuk-do province. The city has a 1300 year history and you can see its historic relics within the city. Pungnammun Gate in Jeonju was constructed in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty (1768). This Jeonju Attraction has been enlisted as National Treasure No. 308. The city had originally four gates but only this one survives. The gate is situated in the southern part of the city. During invasion from the foreign forces from 1592 to 1598, the Pungnammun Gate, Jeonju was partially destroyed. In 1978 the gate was rebuilt. At the center of the gate are Jungcheung and mullu which gives it an arch like feature.

The Pungnammun Gate, Jeonju has round features which helps in its protection and also enhances the overall grandeur. It is also the official emblem of the city and reminds of the famous Namdaemun Gate in Seoul. The gate is surrounded by modern buildings and a roundabout. Just close to the Pungnammun Gate, Jeonju is the Gaeksa guesthouse. This guesthouse is a single storey structure and earlier served as lodgings for representatives of the king. The guesthouse has been refurbished and is the main focal point of the city. To the south of the gate is the old town and to the north are cinemas, main shopping streets and department stores.
