Malaga is one of the large cities in Spain. Alcazaba, Malaga is an excellent building in Malaga. It is a military fortress built by the Moors in the 11th century. It was built for King Badis of Granada. It is situated on the hill located in the city center. It has two walled enclosures. The first wall is built around the topography of the hill. It completely encloses the inner area.
The gateway for entrance is called as 'Puerta de la Boveda'. Nowadays, it can be watched by using the elevators. There are the landscaped gardens which contain numerous decorated fountains. The gateways of 'Puerta de las Columnas' pass through these gardens. The materials from the Roman ruins are re-used for these gateways.
Torre del Cristo (Christ's Tower) is present at the right angle of the gateways. It was built for the defensive purpose. In old days, it was a place of worship. Puerta de las Cuartos de Granada (Gate of the Granada Quarters) protect the western side of the palace. On the eastern side, there is the 'Torre del Homenaje (Tribute Tower) which is semi-ruined.
The palace is located inside the second wall. There are also other homes which were built on three consecutive outdoor areas during the 11th, 13th and 14th centuries. It includes the 'Cuartos de Granada' (Granada Quarters). It was the governor's home. There is the Archaeological Museum inside the palace.
Alcazaba, Malaga is the ultimate example of the Moorish architecture. You must not miss this spot in your visit to Malaga.
