Spain is a country that is situated in the South of Europe. It is rich in natural, cultural and architectural heritage. Hence, it is one of the famous tourist destinations in Europe. About 88% periphery of Spain is surrounded by water. The length of the Mediterranean coast is 1,660 km and 710 km is of the Atlantic coast.

The population of Spain is about 40,341,462. The Castilian Spanish is the commonly used language. About 94% of people belong to the Roman Catholic religion. There are 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities in Spain. Madrid is the capital of Spain. The Map of Spain shows that Spain is surrounded by several mountain ranges. It is present on the volcanic island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Its height is 3,715 m. At the southern tip of Spain, the Sistema Penibetico is present. The Sierra Nevada contains Mulhacen, which is the highest mountain on the peninsula. Its height is 3,479 m. The Duero, Mino, Guadiana and Tajo are the main rivers according to the Map of Spain. The flow of the rivers is westward and southward to the Atlantic Ocean. These rivers rise in Spain and flow to the Atlantic through Portugal. The deepest and most navigable river in Spain is the Guadalquivir River. The Ebro River flows into the Mediterranean Sea through Zaragoza. Having taken a look at the Map of Spain, one can conclude that it is a large mountainous country. One must visit Spain to enjoy sailing in the rivers and trekking in the large mountains of Spain.
